Kolton Kelley, a sophomore from Delhi Charter School, placed first in the individual exhibit category at the April 6 Louisiana State History Day Competition and also won the William Still Award for Excellence in Primary Research.

Delhi win cleanest city contest

The Town of Delhi has been named as the District 5 Cleanest City Contest winner by the Louisiana Garden Club Federation following a visit to the town by the official judges last Thursday.. The town will now go on to compete for the state Cleanest City honor in April. Delhi Garden Club President Eva Dawson said the victory wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the people of Delhi, Mayor Jesse Washington and his staff and public employees, Lamb-Weston, Hydro and other volunteers.

Delegates from Boeuf River Chapter, NSDAR, attended the Louisiana Society Daughters of the American Revolution’s 110th state conference March 14-16 in Lafayette. Taking part in the conference were, from left, Gayle Waller, speaker Jacques Rodrigue from the George Rodrigue Foundation, and Boeuf River Chapter Regent Angela Hales, South Central Division Vice Chairman, American Indian Committee, NSDAR.

Nettie Ranel Day at RJHS

The Rayville Junior High School Parent Teacher Organization, staff and students proclaimed Jan. 31 as Dr. Nettie Ranel Day. This day was set aside to show love and appreciation to RJHS principal Ranel for her love, hard work and dedication to the staff and students at Rayville Junior High School. Ranel tells the students daily that Rayville Junior High School is an institution of higher learning where every day is a day of great expectations.

Brightening up Barksdale

A mural created by U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Ashley Johnson, a munitions technician assigned to the 707th maintenance squadron, decorates the walls of the 307th Maintenance Squadron munitions flight building at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana. Since becoming a Reserve Citizen Airman, Johnson has created several different designs for units around the 307th Bomb Wing.
