Dragons begin season scoring at Bayou Jamb

Friday night lights are back in the town of Mangham and the Dragons are looking to make another deep run in the 2023 season.

The Dragons participated in Bayou Jamb at West Monroe High School this past Thursday night.

Adding a new defensive coordinator, Marcus Yanez, seems to have been the perfect touch for the Dragons as they shut out Cedar Creek in the 2023 Bayou Jamb 33-0. The dragons have a young squad with only four defensive players returning from last year, but it seems that the offseason workouts are paying off.

Offense was too much for the Cedar Creek Cougars to handle as the Dragons scored 33 points. Quarterback Austin Lively completed seven out of nine passes with 215 yards and two touchdowns. Isiah McFarland ran the ball seven times for 78 yards and two touchdowns. Lane Almond had four receptions, 104 yards and one touchdown. Peter Bigalow had two receptions for 53 yards and Evan Barton had one reception for 38 yards and one touchdown.

The Dragons will take on the Jena Giants at 7 p.m. on Sept. 1 at Jena High School.

The game will be on 105.7 FM & 540 AM.
