Jeanette Merriett

Graveside services for Jeanette Merriett, 78, of Clayton, were held at Merriett Family Cemetery on Friday, January 15, 2021 with Bro. Grady Fulton officiating, under the direction of Comer Funeral Home. 

Jeanette was born Friday, August 21, 1942 in Epps and passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family. 

She was a loving wife, sister, mother, and grandmother. Jeanette will be missed.

Cecil Lee Kifer

Cecil Lee Kifer Jr. was born on Nov. 24, 1955, in Newellton, to Cecil and Mary Emma Kifer.

He was a 1973 graduate of Tensas Academy and attended Louisiana Tech University on a football scholarship. He began farming in Tensas Parish in 1976. In 1998, he obtained his crop consultant’s license. He went to Heaven on Jan. 11, 2021 surrounded by his family.

Martha A. Brown

Funeral services for Martha A. Brown, 83, of Rayville, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Brown-Holley Funeral Chapel, Rayville, with Bro. Kevin Bates officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Antioch Cemetery, Rayville.

Mrs. Martha was born June 12, 1937 in Sylvester, GA, and passed away Sunday, January 10, 2021 in Rayville.

Mrs. Martha is preceded in death by her parents, Perry and Lois Anglin; twin siblings, Pete Anglin and Lartha Marroy; sisters, Louise Umbel and Ruth Phillips; and her grandson, Joseph Morris.

Murial Boggan Brewster

Murial Boggan Brewster of Rayville passed away at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at the age of 93.

Murial was born October 6, 1927, to John Henry and Mary Miranda in Bath Springs, Tennessee. She graduated from Jet High School in Vicksburg, Mississippi. She married William “Willie” Volney Rabb in 1947.

Murial belonged to and was active in the Methodist Church all of her life in all of the cities that she dwelled. 

Luke Joshua Letlow

Congressman-elect Luke Joshua Letlow, from Start, Louisiana, passed away from complications due to COVID-19 on December 29, 2020.

He was born to Johnny and Dianne Letlow on December 6, 1979, in Richland Parish, Louisiana.

Two of Luke’s favorite phrases were “win the day” and “go, fight, win,” and he did win big in his forty-one years.
