Police investigating deaths

The Louisiana State Police are investigating a pair of deaths in Delhi.

Delhi Police Chief Roy Williams said initially the body of a 37-year-old male was found in a car at the park on Park Drive on Saturday.

“It appeared he had been shot in the head, so we treated it like a homicide and called the state police,” Williams said.

The second body was found at a home on Charter Street later that day.

“She didn’t show up at the polling place, so a relative went to check up on her,” Williams said.

Williams said the couple had recently bought the house and had been living together.

“At the moment, it appears to have been a domestic incident,” Williams said. “He shot her and after he realized she was dead, he went to the park and shot himself. There was no third party involved.”

However, Williams said, law enforcement officials are still waiting for the autopsy reports before releasing the names of the victims.
