Drug arrest made in court

Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Kenyatta Natt, 26, Oct. 21 outside the courtroom at the Richland Parish Courthouse. 

Richland Parish Sheriff Gary Gilley said this arrest followed after an investigation by the sheriff’s office and Richland Parish Detention Center into a scheme to pass illegal drugs to inmates at court.

Seven amendments on ballot

Voters will decide the fate of seven constitutional amendments and a sports betting proposition Nov. 3.

Those items are as follows:

• Amendment 1, No Right to Abortion:

A yes vote means nothing in the Constitution protects a right to abortion.

A no vote leaves the Constitution with no specific language on abortion.

• Amendment 2, Oil and Gas Well Assessment:

A yes vote allows for a well’s oil and gas production when valuing it for property tax assessment. 

Delhi police arrest suspect in attempted murder case

A Tallulah man has been charged with five counts of attempted murder in Delhi.

Delhi Police Chief Roy Williams said his department received a call-in reference to shots fired Oct. 14 on Church Street.  

Delhi Police Department Asst. Chief Jermaine Esters received information from victims of the shooting that a large, tall black male wearing an orange shirt shot at their vehicle. 

 Asst. Chief Esters took statements from several victims stating that they saw the black male shoot at the vehicle as the vehicle was traveling on Church Street. 

Richland residents may be owed for unclaimed property

In the Oct. 22 Richland Beacon-News, starting on page five, you’ll find a list of Richland Parish residents owed money by the state of Louisiana. 

The state currently has millions of dollars it wants to return to its rightful owners, but first it has to locate those to whom money is owed, according to State Treasurer John M. Schroder Sr.

The list in today’s paper shows Richland residents who have unclaimed property of various types on record in the state Treasurer’s office.
