Early voting to begin for Nov. 3 elections

Richland Parish Registrar of Voters Carol Morgan wants to remind citizens that early voting for the Nov. 3 open primary congressional and presidential election will be held Oct. 16-27 in her office in the basement of the Richland Parish Courthouse in Rayville.

The hours for early voting will be from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily excluding Sundays.

Those wishing to vote are asked to bring proper identification.

Night of Hope to benefit St. Jude

The 2020 Night of Hope will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Rayville Arts Center in Rayville.

The event will offer an opportunity to experience great Southern Gospel Music and a gifted humorist, while at the same time being able to raise funds for a premier pediatric cancer center like St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Entertainment will include comedian Tim Lovelace and musical performances by Joseph Habedank, the Talleys, the three Heath Brothers and Josh and Ashly Franks.

Hendrix earns honor for aiding Title I schools

A Richland Parish educator has earned national recognition for her work.

Richland Parish Schools Director of Federal Programs Christy Hendrix has been given a State Leadership Award by the National Association of Federal Education Program Administrators.

The award is presented to recognize NAFEPA members who have assumed significant roles in the support and promotion of activities and goals on the state affiliate organizations.
