Delhi police wrap up numerous investigations

The Delhi Police Department has concluded a number of drug investigations this week, leading to numerous arrests.

The Delhi Police Department along with the Epps Police Department and the West Carroll Sheriff’s Office executed a narcotics search warrant on June 5 at 112 Powell St., Delhi.

The Delhi Police arrested Telly Jackson, 36, and charged him with three counts of distribution of synthetic cannabis and possession of synthetic cannabis.

Jackson was transported to the Richland Parish Detention Center and booked pending bond. 

Summer program scheduled in Delhi

The Summer Enrichment Program will begin June 13 and run through July 12 at the Richland Parish Recreation and Learning Center, located beside the Delhi Civic Center, 

Children in grades kindergarten through three are scheduled from 9-11 a.m. and students in grades four through eight are scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A snack will be provided daily.

RMC chooses sole ambulance provider

Northeast Louisiana Ambulance Service has signed on as Richardson Medical Center’s sole provider for ground transportation of patients to other hospitals requiring a higher level of care.

NELA’s contract with the hospital, located in Rayville, became effective on June 8. James Barrett, Jr., Richardson Medical Center’s CEO, signed the agreement on June 7. 

NELA is now the sole provider for all hospitals and nursing homes in Richland Parish. The service has contracts with the parish’s three nursing homes and Richland Parish Hospital in Delhi.

Teams honored

Sen. Francis Thompson and Rep. Bubba Chaney congratulate all four teams, coaches, and managers in the Senate Chamber of the State Capitol.

Four championship teams recognized at state capitol

Four championship basketball teams from Richland Parish traveled with their coaches to the Louisiana State Capitol where Sen. Francis Thompson and Rep. Bubba Chaney recognized them and  their outstanding winning seasons May 30 at the legislature. 

Sen. Thompson and Rep. Chaney presented Senate and House Resolutions in both chambers to the Delhi High School Lady Bears championship basketball team, the Rayville Hornets championship basketball team, the Rayville Junior High championship team and the Delhi Bears runner-up to the championship title.  

Baton Rouge Bank acquires Richland State Bank in deal

Business First Bancshares, the holding company for Business First Bank, and Richland State Bancorp jointly announced Monday the signing of a definitive agreement under which Business First will acquire Richland State and its wholly owned bank subsidiary, Richland State Bank.

On a pro forma basis as of March 31, 2018, the combined institution would be the 4th largest Louisiana-headquartered bank, with total assets of approximately $2 billion.
