The Crew Lake UMW met Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at 5:30 p.m. for the first meeting of the year.

Members present were Mary Joyce Whitten, Tootie Boughton, Melva Gilbert, Brenda Duffey, Margie Sullivan, Francis Goodson, Joan Brown, Lillian Whitten, connie Word, Dianne Williams andEmma Jo Sullivan.

Emma Jo Sullivan offered the blessing, then the members all enjoyed a delicious meal. The UMW member provided the food.

Niaja Jones is asking the public to help a family in need.

Visitors are invited to join archaeologists March 3 at Poverty Point as they search for artifacts by water screening excavated soil. 

Poverty Point Station Archaeology’s current project involves surveying and shovel testing land surrounding the site, to determine how the ancient people of Poverty Point used their surrounding environment. Guests are welcome to watch, learn, and participate in water screening under the guidance of the on-site archaeologists.
