Saints Alive enjoy the music of Bill Thorpe

Saints Alive, a ministry of First Baptist Church, Rayville, met on Monday, February 26, at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

President Helen Diamond welcomed everyone. Prayer requests were voiced. We were so happy to have Mike Robinson, Bill Thorpe, Mickey Shoemaker Fisher, Hope Davis, and Allen and Diane Nettles visiting with us.

Police Report

The Rayville Police Department made the following arrests for the week of March 4-11.

• Kenneth Boston, 53, 18 Tuscany Way, Rayville; simple battery (two counts).

• Detra Brown, 32, 518 Eugene St., Rayville; theft greater than $300 and less than $1,000.

• Timothy Chaplin, 25, 4782 Hwy 165 South, Monroe; no driver’s license.

• Johnathan Bell, 28, 206 Cotton St., Rayville;  disturbing the peace by fighting.

Area student earns academic honors

SEWANEE, Tenn. — Elizabeth Lacey Shackelford of Mer Rouge has been named to the Dean’s List at the University of the South for the fall 2017 term. 

To earn a place on Sewanee’s Dean’s List, a student must earn a minimum grade point average of 3.625 on a 4.0 scale. Elizabeth is the daughter of Lucy & John Shackelford.

My candidacy for Mayor of Rayville, LA is hereby demonstrated in my belief that “Strong Leadership Builds Strong Communities”.

As I reflect over my life, there is and always has been a deep burning desire in my heart to reach out and help those in need. I am still determined to make a positive impact in the lives of the citizens in the Town of Rayville for God’s glory.
