Four arrested in connection with Delhi murder

Louisiana State Police Troopers arrested four Delhi residents in connection with a homicide in Delhi.  

Charged with second degree murder June 29 were 32-year-old Deontia Monroe and 35-year-old Lorenzo Bee. Both were booked into the Richland Parish Detention Center and charged with second-degree murder.

Also connected to the homicide were 43-year-old Lekeythe Hunter and 33-year-old Samuel Williams. These two suspects were booked into the Richland Parish Detention Center charged with obstruction of justice and accessory after the fact.

Delhi police seek suspect in homicide

The Delhi Police Department is investigating the murder of a 46-year-old resident.

Buford Dean Jr., 46, of Baskin Parks Road, Delhi, was found dead in a field near Martin Luther King and Ray Street around 7:30 a.m. June 24. Bean had been stabbed.

"We are going to find who did this," Delhi Police Chief Roy Williams said. "That man was a father, he was a son, he has relatives and he deserves that."

Williams said the investigation is now under way with the aid of the Richland Parish Sheriff's Office and the Louisiana State Police.

Richland educator tapped for special education project

Angie Snuggs of Richland Parish is one of 15 Louisiana special education leaders  selected to participate in the inaugural “SPED Fellow Academy,” a yearlong, comprehensive development program for aspiring and novice special education leaders across the state. 

Snuggs is the special education supervisor for the Richland Parish School District.

Las Vegas woman arrested over damage to ball field

A Las Vegas woman has been arrested in connection with the vandalism of the Mangham Little League Baseball Park.

Mangham Police Chief Perry Fleming said Krystal Rae Hamman, 28, of Las Vegas, was arrested June 15 and charged with criminal damage to property and criminal mischief to property. 

 She was booked into the Richland Parish Detention Center.

Fleming said Hamman was arrested at the Days Inn Motel in Rayville by the Mangham Police Department. 

Early voting gets underway for presidential primaries

Early voting for the July 11 presidential preference primary will be held from June 20 through July 4, Richland Parish Registrar of Voters Carol Morgan announced.

Early voting will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily in the registrar’s office located in the basement of the Richland Parish Courthouse in Rayville. No voting will be held June 21 and June 28.

In addition to early voting, if eligible, voters may request a mail ballot. Voters may obtain a form from the Registrar of Voters Office or online at www.sos.la.gov.
