Following qualifying, all three incumbent Fifth Judicial District Court judges and the district attorney will take office unopposed.
Penny Douciere of Rayville, who was appointed as district attorney following the retirement of Mack Lancaster earlier this year was unopposed in her bid for district attorney.
Judge Jay McCallum qualified July 22 to run for the open Louisiana Supreme Court position, formerly held by retired Justice Marcus Clark.
Judge McCallum has received endorsements from law enforcement in 15 of the 20 parishes that comprise Supreme Court District 4.
Funeral services for Twayne O’Briant, 70, of Mer Rouge, were held Monday, July 27, 2020 at Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, with Bro. Stacy Thomas officiating.
Interment followed in the Rayville Masonic Cemetery, Rayville.
Mr. Twayne was born November 22, 1949 in Delhi, and passed away Friday, July 24, 2020 in Mer Rouge. He is preceded in death by his parents, R.C. and Ruth O’Briant; and brothers, Robert O’Briant and Donnie O’Briant.
A private family funeral service for Donnie “Buddy” G. Copeland, 79, of Start was held Monday, July 27, 2020 at Crew Lake United Methodist Church, Start, with Bro. Marshall Sevier officiating.
All friends were welcome to attend the graveside service at the New Salem Cemetery, Girard, Monday, July 27, 2020 under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville.
The Rayville Wal-Mart will be closed Tuesday afternoon and all day Wednesday as part of the store's COVID-19 response.
Wal-Mart issued the following statement explaining the temporary closure.
