Applications available for turkey lottery hunts

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is accepting applications for the 2018 turkey season lottery hunts on state wildlife management areas. 

The deadline to submit applications is Feb. 9, 2018.

Regular turkey lottery hunts will be held on nine WMAs this spring. Youth lottery hunts will be held on 11 WMAs.

The application forms for these WMA hunts for adult and youth hunters are now available on the LDWF website at http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/hunting/lottery-hunts. 

AgCenter hosts Noon Nibbles at the library

The public is invited to Noon Nibbles, a monthly free nutrition education lesson.

“Each month we cover a different nutrition related topic through fun, interactive activities,” AgCenter Assistant Area Nutrition Agent Saundra Raines said. “You may bring your lunch to eat during the lesson and a healthy food tasting will also be served during the class.”

Noon Nibbles will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Dec. 20 at the Richland Parish Library, 1410 N. Louisa St., in Rayville)

The topic for December is “Let’s Eat for the Health of It: How much protein do we REALLY need?”

Police Report

The Rayville Police Department made the following arrests for the week of Dec. 4-10.

• Gregory Gipson, 24, 131 B. South Circle Drive, Rayville; simple battery and disturbing the peace (general).

• Crystal Heart, 908 Spruce St., Rayville; disturbing the peace (general).

• Timmie Cooks, 50, 107 Elizabeth St., Rayville; driving under suspension.

• Frederick Washington, 37, 19 Baker Lane, Rayville; two counts of simple criminal trespassing.

Saints Alive meet for November

Saint’s Alive, a ministry of First Baptist Church, Rayville, met Nov. 27, at the First Baptist Church of Fellowship Hall.

President Helen Diamond welcomed visitors Frances Reeves, Mike Robinson, Donna McGaha and Rev. Mike and Beverly Jackson.

Saints who had happy birthdays in November were recognized. Prayer requests were voiced. Chaplain for Saints Alive, Brother Ralph Odom prayed over the needs and blessed the food. Tables were beautifully decorated with a Christmas theme. Decorators were Rachel Stephenson and Sandra Pesnell. A delicious catered meal was enjoyed by all.
