Raiders move to 3-1 after victory over Park Place

The Riverfield Academy Raiders hosted the Park Place Crusaders this past Monday night in another district game. The Raiders came out on top of this one, bringing their district record to 3-1.

The first quarter of the contest was plagued by penalties and turnovers for the Raiders. Park Place controlled the time of possession during the quarter and had the ball in good field position twice but were not able to score on the Raider defense. The quarter ended in a 0-0 tie.

Crew Lake UMW honors congregation

The United Methodist Women of Crew Lake Church served the congregation a Mexican Buffet lunch Sunday, September 23, 2018. 

After his sermon, Bro. Marshall Sevier, the pastor, asked the blessing. Then he invited everyone to file to the Fellowship Hall for lunch.  

UMW President, Dianne Williams had decorated the fellowship hall in a Mexican theme. 

DAR studies the Constitution

Bouef River Chapter, NSDAR, met Monday, September 17, 2018, in the home of Angela Hales.

Members enjoyed delicious refreshments in the social period.

Regent Angela Hales called the meeting to order and led the DAR ritual.

Jamie Harrell read the President General’s message. Charlotte Sims read minutes of the April meeting. Treasurer Dora Heath gave her report. Dues are due by November.

Members met at the parish library to work on by-laws in May. Some changes were made. Programs and meetings were planned for the year and hostesses named.

The Rayville Police Department made the following arrests for the week of Sept. 16-23.

• Ashley Qualls, 28; 116-B South Circle Drive, Rayville; failure to appear on no proof of insurance.

• Tiffany Hawkins, 29; 313 Francis St., Rayville;  cyberstalking.

• Eddie Booker, 42; 23 Plum Tree, Rayville; aggravated assault.

• Michael Templeton, 37; 304 Hayes St., Rayville; improper telephone use and cyberstalking

Crew Lake UMW host first meeting of fall season

United Methodist Women of Crew Lake United Methodist Church in Start had their first meeting of the fall season on September 13, 2018.

Connie Ward blessed the meal prepared by her and Lillian Whitten. After everyone enjoyed the meal, Connie Ward gave the devotional “More Than One Man”. Scripture was taken from the book of Matthew. All received a blessing.

Dianne Williams, President opened with business, asking for the treasurer’s report by Melva Gilbert and reading of the minutes by Lillian Whitten. She also welcomed a new member.
