Riverfield plays barn burner against Tri County

The Riverfield Raiders took their second win of the season this past Friday night in a guts and glory battle if there ever was one. 

The Raiders traveled to Flora, MS to do a battle with the Tri County Rebels a team that held the number 1 ranking in the MAIS 4A division. The Raiders came out on top by a score of 50-49. It was a classic second half fight in which the Raiders proved they could dig deep and not give up.

Riverfield wins first game against Central Hinds

For the season opening game, the Riverfield Raiders traveled to Raymond, Miss., to take on the Central Hinds Cougars.

For the first time in eight years, the Raiders defeated Central Hinds on their own field.

the Raiders took possession of the ball first in the game and moved the ball well with the run. The first quarter, however, ended in a scoreless tie.

Mangham Dragons win scrimmage against Delhi

The Mangham Dragons took down the Delhi Bears 31-6 Friday night during a scrimmage game in Mangham.

The Bears won the toss, kicking off to the 30-yard line. Mangham took possession and three plays later J.T. Smith ran the ball 12 yards to the Dragon 18 for first and 10. The Dragons moved the ball inside the one-yard line before the Bears were able to intercept a pass and run it back to the 43 yard line, but three plays later, the Dragons were able to regain possession.

The Raider defense was out in full force as Riverfield Academy took on Clinton Christian Academy in scrimmage action last week.

Riverfield begins season at Jamb at the Grove

It’s back to school time and there has been much activity on the Riverfield campus as students have returned after summer break.

For the football team, some of that summer break time was spent in weight and agility training, preparing for the upcoming season.

The team got a chance to test those skills this past Saturday as they participated in the third annual Jamb at the Grove at ULM’s Malone Stadium in Monroe. Jamb at the Grove is a season opening jamboree in which several area MAIS teams participate by playing two 20-minute contests.

Haley Salsbury

Haley Salsbury successfully won the state titles in the 3200 race, 1600 race and 800 MM race May 4 at the 3AAA State Meet in at Jackson Prep in Jackson, Miss. She placed first overall in all three races over all other divisions. This summer she will continue to work hard and run with the Ultimate Performance Track club out of Monroe and will attend the AAU Junior Olympics Meet in Greensboro, N.C. in August. She is the is daughter of David and Candace Salsbury of Start,
