April 4 elections will be postponed until summer

Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin  has rescheduled the April 4 elections until June 20 due to COVID-19.

In addition to the candidates seeking the Democratic and Republican presidential nominations, one local election was on the ballot. 

Richland Parish Hospital Service District No. 1-A  will ask voters to continue to levy 10.47 mills on all property subject to taxation in the district through the year 2030 pursuant to an election held on May 1, 2010 .

Richland set to receive federal funds to fight virus

Congressman Ralph Abraham, M.D., R-Alto, announced  Richland Parish will receive supplemental federal funding from the Department of Health and Human Services totaling $55,579 for the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19, which is caused by the coronavirus.

“I deeply appreciate the Trump administration recognizing the need for additional support here in northeast Louisiana where a growing number of coronavirus infections is being reported on a daily basis,” said Dr. Abraham. 

Police jury announces measures to fight virus

In response to the recent outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, the Richland Parish Police Jury have proposed the following measures be taken in an effort to protect its staff and residents from infection and limit the possible exposure.

The Richland Parish Police Jury Office and maintenance barns will be completely closed  through April 13, 2020. All public meetings of the Richland Parish Police Jury scheduled for the month of April have been canceled or postponed. Once the order of no gatherings of 10 or more is lifted by the governor, public meetings will resume as normal.
