Raiders drop game to Leake Academy, 50-22

The Riverfield Academy Raiders were in action home this past Friday night against Leake Academy.

The Raiders came up short in the contest, suffering a 50-22 loss.

The Leake Academy Rebels came out strong against the Raiders, outscoring them 31-6 in the first half. Riverfield’s first-half score came on a second-quarter pass completion from Garrett Brakefield to Alex Allen, a 13-yard completion for a touchdown.

Delhi Bears get first loss, Mangham, Rayville follow

The Delhi Bears got their first loss of the season with a narrow 56-42 match against the OCS Eagles last Friday night.

OCS took a 20-6 lead at the end of the first quarter and bumped it up to 28-14 at the half. They were still ahead 49-28 at the end of the third quarter. Delhi rallied with 14 points to OCS’ seven in the fourth quarter, but still ended the game with a final score of 56-42.

Brandon Williams directed the air attack for Delhi, completing 26 of 41 pass attempts for 310 yards and five touchdownss. 

DCS Gators dominate D’Arbonne Woods, 27-8

The Delhi Charter School Gators dominated the D’Arbonne Woods Wolves last Friday night with a 27-8 victory.

Delhi came out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter and widened it to 21-0 at halftime. 

Neither team scored in the third quarter. D’Arbonne Woods came back with six points in the fourth quarter, but the Bears chipped in another six to take the final victory 27-8.

Raiders move to 3-1 after victory over Park Place

The Riverfield Academy Raiders hosted the Park Place Crusaders this past Monday night in another district game. The Raiders came out on top of this one, bringing their district record to 3-1.

The first quarter of the contest was plagued by penalties and turnovers for the Raiders. Park Place controlled the time of possession during the quarter and had the ball in good field position twice but were not able to score on the Raider defense. The quarter ended in a 0-0 tie.

Riverfield Raiders now 2-1 in district action

The Riverfield Academy Raiders traveled to Raymond, Miss., to take on the Central Hinds Cougars this past Friday night.

The game ended in a tough district loss for Riverfield. Both teams went into the contest with 2-0 district records. The loss put Riverfield at 2-1 in district action.

They are not, however, out of the playoff picture by any means. With three games left on the regular schedule, two of which are district match ups, the Raiders remain poised and focused on the victories ahead.
