Graveside services for LaQueeta Colson Brown, 88, will be held at 2 p.m. April 6, 2026, at Rayville Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home. LaQueeta went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 4, 2026, after a lengthy illness.

LaQueeta Brown was a retired schoolteacher and taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School at First Baptist Church in Rayville many years ago. All who knew her remember her as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking, gardening and the simple things in life. She lived her life as a reflection of her faith, with kindness, compassion and quiet strength.

LaQueeta was preceded in death by her parents, Willis Colson and Opal Colson Woods; and brothers, Jerry Colson and Thomas Colson.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 68 years, Emmett Brown Jr.; her four children, Myra Alderman (Art), Lisa Cheek (Keith), Kym Trisler (Rayland), and Emmett “Lee” Brown III (Jada); 10 grandchildren, Crystal Bennett (Lyle), Brandon Alderman (Josie), Misty Falting (Kyle), Jill Sutton (Scott), Emilee Turner (Seth), Lanya Fussell (Chance), Reed Trisler (Olivia), Clayton Trisler (Rachel), Emmett “Lance” Brown IV (Katelyn), and Kara Trisler; as well as 21 great-grandchildren.

LaQueeta loved her family deeply and unconditionally. Though her passing leaves a space that can never be filled, her spirit will continue to bloom in the hearts of those she loved.

Pallbearers are Reed Trisler, Clayton Trisler, Emmett “Lance” Brown IV, and Brandon Alderman. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Lyles and Bobby Calvert.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the caregivers at Gardens of Somerset, St. Joseph’s Hospice, and special family friend, Tiffany.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
