Holly Ridge Happenings

It is not the length of life, but the depth of life that matters.

Daily prayer will diminish your cares.

The secret of success is to start from scratch and keep on scratching.

I am careful not to confuse excellence with perfection. Excellence, I can reach for, perfect is God’s business!

When you reach the end of your rope, you will find the hem of His garment!

Congratulations to Emily Hardy Ogden who has been nominated for Louisiana Teacher of the year! We are so proud of her, she come from the Holly Ridge community. Yeah!

Holly Ridge Happenings

Before you complain, remember the days you prayed for what you have now!

The Pyles boys come by the store after the funeral services of their mom. They included Marvin Pyles and family from Carolina, Johnny Pyles and family from Texas, Mattew Pyles and his wife also. Matt also went down for a good visit with Aunt Lannie (who he dearly loves) after he left the store.

Bro. Tim Fulmer, former paster at Dunn Church of God stopped in for a brief visit. He now lives in Georgia.

God’s love has no limit, God’s grace has no measure, God’s power knows no boundaries. May God’s endless blessings light up your life today and forever.

Coming by here on Monday was Bethany Clark Blakeney and her mother-in-law Dora Blakeney from Fort Hood, Texas, where they visited with Mrs. Dora’s son who is stationed there. It was a pleasant surprise when I realized it was Bethany.

A Mother Just Like You

I wonder what the world would be like if all children had a Mother like you. One who gave so much of herself putting her childs needs before her own. What a nice thought, a world full of happiness wished upon them just like you have given me.

When I was young everything seemed so perfect. You’d kiss my scraped up knees making things better once again. And when you’d hold me close I’d smile because your arms felt so safe. You use to tell me God blessed you so many years ago when he placed me in your arms.

Holly Ridge Happenings

Every once in a while, a ewe will give birth to a lamb and reject it.

There are many reason she may do this. If the lamb is returned to the ewe, the mother may even kick the poor animal away. Once a ewe rejects one of her lambs, she will never change her mind. The little lambs will hang their hands so low that it looks like something is wrong with its neck. Their spirit is broken.

These lambs are called “ bummer lambs.” Unless the shepherd intervenes, that lamb will die, rejected and alone.
