Thanksgiving dinner cheaper in Louisiana

If you live in Louisiana, you have a lot of reasons to be grateful for the state’s farmers and ranchers this Thanksgiving. 

According to a statewide sample of prices for the 34th annual American Farm Bureau Federation Thanksgiving Dinner Price Survey, Louisiana residents can expect to spend $1.37 less than the national average for a classic Thanksgiving dinner for ten people. That classic dinner consists of 11 main items, including a turkey, veggie tray, pumpkin pie and sweet potatoes, along with the cost for miscellaneous ingredients like eggs, flour and evaporated milk.

Riverfield Academy Raiders new MAIS champs

Last Thursday night, at Jackson Academy in Jackson, Miss. the Riverfield Raiders and the Tri County Rebels took the field. 

This one was the big game. It was for the MAIS (Mid-South Association of Independent Schools) class 4A championship title. 

Riverfield came into the game with a 12-0  record while Tri County was at 10-2. The two teams had matched up in week two of the regular season and the Raiders won that game in superior come back style. 

Richland voters decide runoffs

Richland Parish voters decided the fate of three police jury elections as well of helping to elect the governor and secretary of state on Saturday.

In the race for governor, Edwards was re-elected by 51 percent with 774,469 votes to Eddie Rispone’s 734,128. Rispone carried Richland Parish by 57 percent with 4,225 votes to Edwards’ 3,201.

In the runoff election for secretary of state, Kyle Ardoin was elected by 59 percent with 867,449 votes to Gwen Collins-Greenup‘s 601,102. Ardoin carried Richland Parish by 66 percent with 4,691 votes to Green-ups 2,434.
