Delhi police capture home invasion suspect

The Delhi Police were able to capture a home invasion on Tuesday.

Delhi Police Chief Roy Williams said the  Richland Parish Sheriff Office received a 911 call in reference to a home invasion at 1:50 a.m. Jan. 28 at 308 Detroit St., Delhi.

Delhi Police Department Sgt. Craig Frasier and K-9 Nero arrived at the address and Sgt. Frasier talked to the homeowner who said a man had forced his way into her home through her front door. 

AgCenter to host crop forum in Delhi

 LSU AgCenter experts will present the latest research updates in corn, cotton and soybean production at the annual Northeast Louisiana Crops Forum set for Feb. 6 at the Delhi Civic Center.

“This regional event is carefully planned to provide a valuable source of row crop information to benefit area agricultural producers, and we are pleased to be introducing the new AgCenter soybean specialist at this meeting,” said AgCenter extension agent Bruce Garner.

Horticulture workshop slated

 Gardeners who want to learn how to move up from a home garden to a commercial enterprise can hear tips and strategies from experts at a horticulture workshop Feb. 5 at the Delhi Civic Center.

 Sponsored by the LSU AgCenter, the Growing Your Home Garden into a Commercial Garden workshop will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at 11:30. The Delhi Civic Center is located at 232 Denver St., Delhi.

The Rayville Police Department made the following arrests for the week of Jan. 19-26.

• Sammie Combs, 38; 2107 East Pack Drive, Arlington, TX; resisting arrest by flight and improper lane usage.

• Adreanna Kendrick, 22; 224 Reinhart Drive, Apt 28, Parsons, KS; disturbing the peace (general), child endangerment and simple criminal damage to property.

• Lyndell Washington, 48; 19 Baker Lane, Rayville; shoplifting (two counts).

• Donna Camp, 50; 483 Hwy 584, Rayville; theft Less than $300.

Mt. Zion Baptist Church took first place honors in the parade.

Grand marshals

Martin Luther King Memorial Society president Novelette Dorsey presented Ola Mae Tennant with a plaque commemorating her and George Tennant as grand marshals at the banquet which followed the parade.

Guest speaker

Dorsey also presented pastor Harold McCoy with a plaque for serving as guest speaker at the banquet.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Society held its annual parade and banquet Monday in Rayville, honoring the memory of Dr. King.
