Police Report

Rayville Police Chief Markus Turner announced the Rayville Police Department made the following arrests for the week of May 1-7.

• Demarcus Thompson, 26, failure to appear on damage to property.

• Melissa King, 55, criminal mischief and filing a false police report.

The Rayville Police Department issued a total of 15 traffic citations this week. That number includes eight for speeding, three for no driver’s license, two for failure to yield/school bus loading and one each for no seatbelt and failure to carry registration.

Delhi officer charged with domestic battery

A Delhi police officer has been arrested for domestic abuse as a result of an incident which took place in November, 2022 in West Monroe.

Delhi Police Chief Roy Williams said 23-year-old DPD officer Kevin Fair was booked into the Ouachita Parish Detention Center on May 5 on charges of domestic abuse battery and domestic abuse strangulation. He was released on $15,000 bond.

Due to the arrest, Fair was also subject to a protection order. Williams said this would lead to his dismissal from the police department.

Ding-Dong-Ditch lands man in jail, teen in hospital

A Rayville man has been arrested for shooting a teenager playing the game Ding-Dong-Ditch.

Richland Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested Michael Scott Duckworth of Rayville on May 1, charging him with one count of second degree battery.  This arrest stemmed from an incident early on April 30 when a group of teens were knocking on doors and running away.

The teens knocked on Duckworth’s door and then ran to another residence, knocking there also. They then were running through a field when Duckworth spotlighted them and fired his weapon, striking one of the teens.

• Dustin Powell, 40; remaining after forbidden.

• One juvenile was charged with simple battery.

The Rayville Police Department issued a total of 24 traffic citations this week. That number includes 19 for speeding, three for expired license plate and one each for expired driver’s license and careless operation with an accident.

• Dacarlus Harris, 37; driving under suspension, expired license plate, failure to secure registration, no inspection sticker and no proof of insurance.
