Parish Ballet Company plans inaugural performance

Richland Parish has a new ballet company and the beginnings of a new holiday tradition this year as the company prepares for its first production of The Nutcracker Dec. 19 at the Richland Parish Arts Center.

Parish Ballet Company is the dream of local dance instructor Rebecka Gwin. 

Boeuf River DAR chapter names citizenship winners

Boeuf River Chapter, NSDAR, has announced its school and parish Good Citizen winners for 2021.

One senior from each school has been selected as the DAR Good Citizen for 2021.  They were selected by faculty members and classmates as a student who best demonstrates the qualities of a Good Citizen.  Those qualities are dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism.  

Delhi schools seek bond issue for facilities

Voters in Richland Parish District 1 will decide the fate of a $12 million bond issue to support Delhi schools when they go to the polls on Dec. 5.

“Monies generated from the bonds will support facility and building improvements at Delhi Elementary School, Delhi Middle School and Delhi High School,” Richland Parish School Board Superintendent Sheldon Jones said. “I encourage registered voters in District 1 to participate in early voting as well as the called election.”

DCS providing summer food service through May

Delhi Charter School is participating in the Summer Food Service Program until the end of May 2021.

Meals will be provided to all eligible children without charge. Acceptance and participating requirements for the program and all activities are the same for all regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity in any program or activity conducted or funded by USDA, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. 

Thompson awarded honorary FFA degree

Francis Thompson of Delhi has been selected to receive the Honorary American FFA Degree. 

This award is given to those who advance agricultural education and FFA through outstanding personal commitment. The National FFA Organization works to enhance the lives of youth through agricultural education. Without the efforts of highly dedicated individuals, thousands of young people would not be able to achieve the success that, in turn, contributes directly to the overall well-being of the nation.
