Tensas farmers named to soybean, grain board

Three Tensas Parish farmers have been named to the the Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board

Gov. John Bel Edwards announced the appointments of St. Joseph farmers  Heath M. Herring, Kellon L. Lee and Darrell J. VandeVen on April 23.

Herring is the owner of H and K Farms Partnership and was nominated by the Louisiana Cotton and Grain Association.

Lee is the owner of Lee Farms Partnership and was nominated by the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation.

VandeVen is a soybean farmer and was nominated by the Louisiana Cotton and Grain Association.

TA Chiefs win 1A track championship

The Tensas Academy boys did an outstanding job at the meet last week where several team members placed first in the respective events.  

Several personal bests were recorded during the meet.  Members of the boys team claimed nine first place finishes to score 71 points and capture the championship.

The quartet of Morgan Williams, Savino Nuccio, Sam Paxton and Chris Davis posted a time of 46.08 in the 400 meter relay, 1:38.43 in the 800 meter relay and 4:03.59 in the 1600 meter relay.

Jehovah’s Witnesses end year without knocking

It’s been one year since Jehovah’s Witnesses worldwide adjusted their hallmark methods of sharing comfort and hope from the scriptures due to the pandemic, including the efforts of the nine congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses in and around Richland Parish.

For many, the change from ringing doorbells and knocking on doors to making phone calls and writing letters expanded and invigorated their ministry.
