William Lawrence Aycock

William Lawrence (“Larry”) Aycock, third child born to the union of Charles Sellers Aycock Jr. and Sarah Ella Walters Aycock in Mansfield, Texas, on May 26, 1960, passed away peacefully at his home in Rayville, Louisiana on May 27, 2021, after spending his last two weeks on this earth comforted, nurtured and loved by a steady stream of close friends and family.

Larry graduated as Valedictorian from Rayville High School in 1978 and later earned a B.A. in business at Northeast Louisiana University. He discovered his love of the jewelry trade while working at Dupont’s Jewelry store in Rayville prior to establishing his own jewelry store in Atlanta, GA, (LA Jewelry, Ltd.), where he designed and created custom pieces of fine jewelry.

Larry was a talented and prolific photographer, an avid tennis player, scuba diver and international traveler. He was devoted to his family, friends and cats. But in his own words, “I consider that most of my greatest accomplishments came when no one else was looking.”

He is preceded in death by his father; his paternal grandparents, Charles Sellers Aycock Sr. and Eunice Downes Aycock; and his maternal grandparents, William Ras Walters and Agnes Spence Walters.

He is survived by his daughter, Callee Blanchard and her husband, Andrew; his mother; his brother, Charles Sellers (“Sandy”) Aycock III, and his wife, Patricia; his sisters, Sarah Elizabeth (“Beth”) Aycock Green and her husband, James, and Melanie Jane Aycock and her partner, Lisa; his nephews, Joshua Smith Aycock and his wife, Kathleen, Matthew Michael Smith, David Sellers Aycock and Bryan William Aycock; two grandchildren (Phillip and Evelyn Blanchard), three great nieces (Emilia Marie Aycock, Eloise Dawn Aycock and Sarah May Aycock); as well as his aunts, cousins, and a plethora of cherished friends near and far.

The family expresses special thanks to the following friends and caregivers who provided special attention to Larry these past two weeks: Lewis Cowart, Ken Newsom, Loretta Summers, Carolyn Bunnitt, Deanna Corbett, Louis “Buster” Higgins, Amy McKenzie and Compassus Hospice.

A private memorial will be held at a later date. Memorials in Larry’s name should be sent to The Wellspring (wellspringofnela.org), or the charity of your choice.
