Shelby Earl Barr

Memorial services for Shelby Earl Barr, 81, of Rayville, will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at the Boeuf River Baptist Church, Rayville,  with Bro. John Cleveland officiating. 

Interment will be in the Bastrop Memorial Cemetery, Bastrop, under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville.

Mr. Shelby was born December 3, 1940, in Bastrop and passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2022, in Rayville. He worked as a truck driver for Delhi Boat Company and as maintenance supervisor for Colonial Manor Guest Home in Rayville and retired from Colonial Manor in 2006. Shelby enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and hunting. He occupied his time after retirement with his pecan-cracking business, in which he enjoyed providing service to his many pecans growing friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, David Earl Barr and Alma Freeland Barr.

Survivors include his brother, William Thomas Barr and wife, Kathy, of Choudrant; sisters, Barbara Barr Nunnally of Houma and Debbie Barr Meeks of Gilmer, TX; son, David Allen Barr of Calhoun; grandchildren, Deborah Ann Barr and Amber Michelle Barr; and his numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family members. 

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Boeuf River Baptist Church in Shelby’s memory.
