Lloyd Ray Wilkerson

Lloyd Ray Wilkerson was born December 22, 1931, to Ella Rae (Dixon) and Charlie Raymond Wilkerson at their home in Rayville, and passed away on February 4, 2024, in Monroe. 

Mr. Wilkerson graduated from Rayville High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served at Kesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Miss. He married his high school sweetheart, Ann O’Neal Wilkerson, in July 1953. After his discharge from the Air Force, Wilkerson worked for Columbia Gulf Transmission Company in Delhi, until his retirement in 1986.

Mr. Wilkerson was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Marguerite and Dupree O’Neal; his sister-in-law, Lillian O’Neal Hammett; brothers-in-law, Bobby Hammett and Dusty O’Neal; his daughter-in-law, Cathy Mills Wilkerson and step-grandson, Wade Myers.

He is survived by his wife, Ann, and their children, Lillian (Puddin) and George Young, Ray and Nanette Wilkerson, Tammie and Jim Berry, Charles and Teresa Wilkerson, Ella (Rie) McDuffie and Lori and Todd Morris; grandchildren, to whom is was known as Papaw, Jonathan (Brooke) Young, Ann Marie Young, Nickie (Ryan) Hicks, Randy and Mary Berry, Dinki Berry, Rusty and Mindy Berry, James Wilkerson, Ryan (Kay Lynne) Wilkerson, Madison (Jacob) Hoffman, John Michael Wilkerson, April and Aaron Dugger, Jerrett Coy, Christopher McDuffie, Seth (Jenifer) McDuffie, Dustin (Ashley) Morris, Emily (Lee) Abraham, Amanda (Jake) Perry, and Patrick (Savannah) Morris. He was blessed with 37 great grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday February 7, 2024, at Greer Cemetery with Rev. Gregg Bennett officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Rayville.

Visitation with family was held from noon until 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the WMU room at the First Baptist Church in Rayville.
