Horace Earl Shoemaker

Funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. Horace Earl “Doll” Shoemaker, 79, of Delhi, were held Friday, August 5, 2022, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Rayville, with Rev. John Skinner officiating. 

Interment with military honors followed in the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Rayville.

Mr. Shoemaker was born on August 11, 1942, in Archibald, and passed away on July 31, 2022. 

He worked in the construction industry for many years pouring concrete. Mr. Shoemaker also served his country in the United States Navy. He loved fishing and playing Domino’s, but his favorite times were spending time with his grandchildren and his animals. 

Mr. Shoemaker is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Shoemaker; parents, Joseph Bilbo and Myrtis Smith Shoemaker; and his brothers, Allen, Vernon, Russell and Johnny “Buster.”

Survivors include his sons, Johnny Earl Shoemaker Sr. and Randy Joe Shoemaker; four grandchildren, Johnny Earl Shoemaker Jr., Andrew Shoemaker, Philip Matthews and Nathanael Shoemaker; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Jimmy Shoemaker and Wendell Shoemaker; sister, Mickey Nicholson; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Andrew Shoemaker, Philip Matthews, Dakota Little, Richie Lachner, Tristen Wiggins and Cory Wiggins.

Visitation was held from at Mulhearn Funeral Home Rayville.

Memorials may be made to the Richland Voluntary Council on Aging of Rayville.
