Clyde Towers Jr.

Funeral services for Clyde Towers Jr., 90, of Rayville, were Friday, May 26, 2023, at the Brown-Holley Chapel, Rayville, with Bro. Charles Ellzey officiating. 

Interment followed in the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Rayville, under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville.

Mr. Clyde was born March 17, 1933, in Rayville and passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2023, in Monroe.

Clyde was a veteran with the USMC serving 20 years. He served during the Korean and Vietnam wars, where he received two purple hearts. He retired from the U.S. Soil Conservation Office and was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Rayville. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and poppa to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Leila Towers Sr.; son, Jimmy Wayne Towers; and sisters, Bernice Shoemaker and Lula Mae Harrell.  

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Charline Towers of Rayville; daughter, Dollie Atkins of Monroe; sons, Clyde Towers III and wife, Carol, of Phoenix, AZ, Jerry Towers and wife, Charlotte, of Dunnellen, FL, and Tim Towers and wife, Karyn, of Tucson, AZ; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Clay Atkins, Trevor Towers, Jordan Towers, Ayden Towers, David Butler and Scoot Stephenson.
