Runoff slated for police chief

Incumbent Police Chief Willie Robinson will face challenger Markus Turner in a run-off election on April 30.

Turner garnered 49 percent of the ballots with 364 votes while Robinson had 39 percent with 287 votes. Barbara Carroll received 93 votes for 13 percent.

The deadline to register to vote in person or by mail is March 30 while those using the Geaux Vote online system have until April 9 to register.

The deadline for requesting a mail ballot is April 26 and they must be returned by April 29.

Early voting will be April 16-23.
