Qualifying underway for Nov. 8 elections

Qualifying for the Nov. 8 primary and congressional elections will be held through July 22.

Candidates can qualify for the position of U.S. Senator, U.S. Representative for the 5th Congressional District and Judge, Court of Appeal 2nd Circuit, 1st Dist., Elec. Sec. 2B in addition to local offices.

Local positions on the ballot in Richland Parish will include the members of all nine school board districts, mayor, police chief and aldermen in the towns of Delhi and Mangham and justice of the peace and constable in Ward 2.

The deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 8 election is Oct. 11 in person or by mail.

Mail ballots may be requested from the registrar of voters until Nov. 4, and mail ballots must be returned to the registrar by Nov. 7.

Early voting will be held from Oct. 25 through Nov. 1.
