Job fair slated in Delhi

The Workforce Development Board will host a career fair from 9 a.m. to noon April 21 at the Delhi Civic Center.

The board is seeking employers and businesses that are currently looking to fill positions with individuals of relevant work experience.

In addition to the Delhi career far, other fairs will be held from 9 a.m. to noon April 27 at the Louisiana Delta Community College Winnsboro campus and April 29 at the Bastrop Muncipal Center.

“Our goal is to provide a career fair to help the community by providing connection to employers who are hiring with job seekers and our young adults who are selected to participate in a short summer employment program,” Richland Parish Workforce Center manager Colleen Dorsey said.

Interested participants can register for one or all of the events by visiting www.wdb83.com and selecting the April Job Fair registration button.

The Workforce Development Board is also promoting a new program for businesses to host an eligible youth participant (18–24 years old) for an eight-week summer program that could possibly fill an open position through Work Experience.

Workforce pays the full salary for eight weeks, then through on the job training, your company is reimbursed 50 percent of the training dollars up to $7,000.

“This basically makes an internship program completely free with a significant cost share to train the interns,” Richland Parish Chamber of Commerce Chairman Scott Franklin said.
