Delhi Charter shines at state robotics meet

The Delhi Charter teams took home multiple awards at the two robotics state championships last weekend in Alexandria.

The high school teams competed April 16 in the Louisiana VRC Robotics Championship.  Rylee Graham, Abbie Houston, and Jenny Wright of team 8892B won the Design Award which goes to the team who demonstrates the best engineering and design process.

Then both the freshmen and senior teams also performed well at the tournament, though they did not bring home any awards. The freshmen were undefeated during all of their qualifying rounds, only to finally be defeated in the semi-finals.

The senior team recovered from an early qualifying loss to knock out the top ranked seed in the semi-finals, but suffered a narrow defeat in the final elimination round.

Delhi Charter’s junior high teams competed in the Louisiana VEX IQ Robotics Championship on April 17.

88892G team member’s Tatum Cannady, Harley Jinks, Avindi Patrick and Lisa Wright took home both the Design Award and Judges Award at the state championship. The Judges Award is awarded to the team that is most deserving of special recognition.

This concludes another stellar season for the Delhi Charter robotics program. The teams will now prepare for next year’s challenges, which will be announced at the end of May.
