‘Meddling Mike’ joins Beacon-News

The Richland Beacon-News is proud to announce a new feature beginning June 23.

Meddling Mike will feature the adventurous weekly assignments of a jolly fourth-grader named Mike. The assignment is to get a good story for his boss, Mr. Riser, at The Richland Beacon-News. His curiosity always gets the best of him, and his actions are often the story’s topic.

Let your imagination run wild as you journey with Mike through Richland Parish.

The column is written by Roger J. Timber, a native of Rayville and graduate of Rayville High School. He is an actor known for Warped!, S.W.A.T. and Insecure in addition to more than 30 Hollywood productions.

Timber is also a children’s book author.

He has been married to Latoya Sharlow since May 29, 2010. They have two children.

“I wanted to do something fun to help kids get interested in reading and develop their curiosity,” Timber said. “I hope people will enjoy it.”

Beacon-News editor Darryl Riser said he’s thrilled to debut the feature.

“When Roger was a kid in Rayville, he wanted to be an actor,” Riser said. “It was a dream he worked at, and now he’s been in more than 30 Hollywood productions. He’s still giving back to his community, showing other kids what can happen if you follow your dreams. He’s the kind of guy I wish we could all be, and I’m proud he wanted to do this in the Beacon.”
