Police Report

Rayville Police Chief Markus Turner announced the Rayville Police Department made the following arrests for the week of July 31 to Aug. 7.

• Malik White, 25, 803 Bryant St., Rayville; aggravated assault.

• Johntavious Sledge, 19, 316 Russell St., Apt. 53, Rayville; simple battery.

• One juvenile was charged with no driver’s license.

The Rayville Police Department issued a total of 33 traffic citations this week. That number includes 31 for speeding and one each for allowing an unlicensed driver to drive and expired tags.

Rayville Police Chief Markus Turner would like to remind everyone Richland Parish schools will open for the 2022-2023 school year for students on Monday, August 15, 2022.

“We are looking forward to a great school year,” he said.

Chief Turner would also like to remind everyone of the posted speed limits throughout the school zones. He stated there will be officers posted in the school zones for the safety of the children. 

Chief Turner also asks you be careful and please watch out for pedestrians as they may cross the streets.
