Police Report

The Rayville Police Department made the following arrests for the week of Jan. 16-23.

• Tiffany Finister, 36, 709 Carter St., Winnsboro; felony theft.

• Edward Minnieweather, 18, 3 Cherry St., Rayville; theft less than $300.

• Richard Hunt, 52, 215 Rader Drive, Lot #3, Monroe; driving under suspension.

• Victor Williams, 40, 1680 Girard Road, Rayville; speeding and no driver’s license.

• Selvin Richardson, 39, 109 Dill St., Rayville; no driver’s license, canceled/expired license plate, criminal mischief and resisting arrest by flight.

• Shaderrica McMillon, 21, 209 Quail St.; Rayville; disobedience to a police officer, disturbing the peace (profanity) and expired motor vehicle inspection less than six months.

• One juvenile was charged with theft less than $300.

The Rayville Police Department issued a total of 21 traffic citations this week. That number includes 10 for speeding, three for expired motor vehicle inspection, two for no proof of insurance and one each for careless operation with an accident, failure to yield with an accident, disturbing the peace by loud music, improper lane change with an accident, failure to carry registration and no insurance.

Rayville Police Chief Willie Robinson would, like to remind the community about the recent increase of new Covid cases. Due to this increase, Chief Robinson reminds us to remain cautious in order to decrease the chances of spreading the new variant When venturing out into the public, remember to use personal protection for yourself and others. If you feel like you are displaying symptoms, please go to a health professional and get tested. Please take the proper precautions to ensure your health and the health of the community.

“We are now beginning tax season,” he said. “Please be aware there are multiple frauds being attempted in order to fraudulently obtain your personal information.”

He reminds you to never give any personal information (i.e. bank information, Social Security information) over the phone. If you receive any type of call and believe it to be fraudulent in nature, record the number and inform local law enforcement.

Chief Robinson would also remind you to obey the traffic laws and remain safe as you go throughout your daily routines. Remember, music is to be played at a reasonable level and all speed limits will be strictly eriforced.
