Rayville Police Chief Willie Robinson would like to inform the community about recent activity involving firearms. There is a town ordinance against displaying or discharging a firearm within the city limits.

“Our police department will strictly enforce this ordinance in order to ensure the safety of the community,” Chief Robinson said. “Let us work together to make sure that we do not have any issues going forward regarding firearms.”

Chief Robinson would like to congratulate the Rayville High boys basketball team on their recent accomplishment this season. After an impressive season in both the regular and post-season, the Hornets finished with a strong effort in the state tournament placing second overall.

“Great job to the team and coaching staff,” he said. “We would also like to thank all the fans who travelled with the team for their support.”

Chief Robinson also reminds residents it is tax season.

“Please be aware there are multiple frauds being attempted in order to fraudulently obtain your personal information.” he said.

Never give any personal information (i.e. bank information, social security information) over the phone. If you receive any type of call and believe it to be fraudulent in nature, record the number and inform the local law enforcement.

Chief Robinson would also remind everyone to obey the traffic laws and remain safe as they go throughout or daily routines. Remember, music is to be played at a reasonable level and all speed limits will be strictly enforced.

“We must all work together and present a strong unified front in the face of all of the adversities that we are and will experience in the days to come,” he said. “Rest assured the Rayville Police Department will remain on call and will respond expediently to ensure that our community remains safe during these trying times.”
