Effective instruction continues at Delhi High

Summer is officially over, and it’s time to get back to work at Delhi High School.

We are proud to say that Delhi High School maintained a “C” School Performance Score, based on Louisiana Student Standards, and we are ready to continue to grow academically.  In addition to growing academically, Delhi Athletics would also like to boast about its strong athletic programs.  Football had a record season, pushing strong into a third round playoff game.

The boys basketball team remained strong making another trip to the State Tournament Semi-Final game.

The Lady Bears also took their game to another level, bringing home the LHSAA State Runner-Up Trophy.  These strong academic and athletic traditions at Delhi high School will be the driving force for the 2019-2020 School year.

Delhi will be striving to continue to prepare our students through effective daily  instruction.

Achieving this will take the continued support of parents, teachers, administration, and the community.

Many teachers have spent endless hours at workshops, trainings, and professional learning development events this summer. These trainings have allowed our teachers to gain ample content knowledge in their subject areas, and learn new strategies to teach their content.  The Leadership team consisting of administrators and teachers has been working tireless hours over the summer to ensure that our students will be receiving quality instruction from bell to bell all year long.

Delhi is very proud to report that we are, once again, fully staffed, featuring seven returning teachers, three new teachers,a new athletic Director, and a former resident turned teacher.  We are also very proud to be the home of the Richland Parish Teacher of the Year for the 2018-2019 School year, Mrs. Lloyd.  She was also the 2019 TNTP Teacher of the Year. Kaitlynn Harris was also named New Teacher of the Year.

There are many new programs and events that will be occurring this year at Delhi.  Along with all of our athletic programs, we are anticipating the rebirth of the Delhi dance line.  2018 Homecoming was SPECTACULAR at Delhi last year and we would like to continue this strong tradition.  Be on the lookout for game, tailgate and parade information.

As always, Delhi High School will be offering a variety of dual enrollment classes, ACT tutoring, and even first aid classes.  Pathways will include University and Jumps Start programs.

The University pathways will be aligned for all students who plan to attend colleges and universities, while the Jump Start pathway will lead students to technical colleges and straight into the workforce.

We have a BIG shout out to several of our students and their hard work and commitment to the Welding program at Delta Community College in Tallulah over the summer.  Be on the lookout for their names and accomplishments as the school year begins.

In closing, we would like to invite the community to come support the wonderful happenings at Delhi High School.

Here are a few “Save the Dates” to add to your calendar as the school year begins:

• Homecoming: Oct. 11th at 7: p.m. at the Bear Stadium

• Veterans Day Program: Nov. 7  at 9 a.m. in the DHS Auditorium

Please be on the lookout for district football games, fundraising events, and school activities over the next few months!

As always, IT’S A GREAT DAY TO BE A DELHI BEAR!!!
