Delhi lost against Richwood back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Dec. 2. The Bears had to suffer through a 76-36 loss at the hands of the Rams. The Bears were down 63-32 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Delhi’s defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden Lusk, who posted 11 points and five assists. Other players making a difference were Ka’marrio Banks with 12 points and Jatavius Hester, who scored 11 points and eight rebounds.
The Bears turned things around a few days later when they took on DCS on Dec. 6.
You can’t lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Delhi’s strategy against Delhi Charter. The Bears came out on top against the Gators by a score of 53-44. The Bears have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Gators, too.
Delhi’s win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jatavius Hester, who went 8-for-11 en route to 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Hester has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last three times he’s played. Kamarrio Banks was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds. Rounding out the scoring was Jayden Lusk with 15 points along with 4 steals.
Delhi’s victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Delhi Charter, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.
Unfortunately the Bears lost 70-47 to the Sterlington Panthers on Dec. 8.
Despite the loss, Delhi saw an underclassman step up. Sophomore Kamarrio Banks dropped a doubledouble with 19 points and ten rebounds. Banks has become a key player for the Bears: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least eight boards, but 0-3 otherwise. Terrance Williams was another key player, putting up six points and ten rebounds. Jayden Lusk contributed 7 points, three rebounds, three assists.
Delhi has been struggling as they’ve lost three of their last four contests. That’s put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.
Delhi will take on McKinley in a tournament on Thursday.
