Saints Alive, a ministry of First Baptist Church, held the November meeting of the new current season on Nov. 3.
Saints Alive meets during the months of October through May. Anyone 55 or over is invited to join. There are no dues for this calendar year. The meetings feature delicious meals, wonderful Christian entertainment/ministry and the best fellowship ever. Come for a visit.
This month’s gathering was opened by Liz Allen.
Prayer requests were received, and prayer was then offered by Butch Salisbury.
The birthday honorees for November were also congratulated and first time visitors acknowledged.
As expected the theme was Thanksgiving, and the decor reflected that. A traditional Thanksgiving meal featuring ham was served with the attendees providing many wonderful desserts to tempt the attendees.
A special guest was Melissa Cumpton Morris, Clerk of Court for Richland Parish.
She provided important updates on elections. Among was the Louisiana Legislature now requiring closed party primaries for certain races, ensuring that only registered party members (and unaffiliated voters) can vote in choosing their party’s candidates.
Melissa also advised of other resources available to the citizens of Richland Parish.
The special event of the evening was a concert by Regina Lipscomb, a former resident of Rayville. Regina is married to a pastor and now lives in Texas.
Next month’s meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Dec. 1. Members are asked to bring their favorite holiday finger foods. The annual holiday auction will be held.
