Delhi Bears prepared for basketball season
The Delhi Bears are ready for the 2025-26 basketball season.

Delhi had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn’t the result they were hoping for.

They came up short against the Bastrop Rams on Monday, falling 68-46. The Bears were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-15.

Loss or not, Delhi got some senior leadership from Jayden Lusk and Jatavius Hester. Lusk posted 17 points and three steals, while Hester scored 15 points and five rebounds. Kamarrio Banks was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals.

Coming up, Delhi will venture away from home to face off against Family Community Christian at 7 p.m. on Friday.

A packed Thanksgiving week includes the Battle on the Hardwood tournament in Shreveport from Nov. 19-22 for the girls squad, a Dec. 2 away matchup with Richwood, and the Delhi Tournament from Dec. 3-6 for both girls and boys teams.

Delhi hosts Sterlington on Dec. 8, then enters the Northside Tournament in Lafayette from Dec. 11-13 for boys only. The girls travel to Shreveport on Dec. 13 for the Huntington Tournament.

The Bears host Richwood on Dec. 15 before traveling to Mangham on Dec. 16. Boys participate in the DeRidder Tournament Dec. 17-19, and the girls head to Walker for a tournament Dec. 18-20. Delhi closes out the pre-holiday slate with a Dec. 23 trip to Delhi Charter, with the varsity girls playing at 6 p.m. and the boys at 7 p.m.

From Dec. 27-31, the girls compete in the ASH Tournament in Alexandria.

District play begins in January with road and home matchups against Simsboro, Mangham, Block, Kaplan, General Trass, St. Frederick, Tensas and Delta Charter.

Senior Night is scheduled for Feb. 12 when Delhi hosts Delta Charter. Most varsity contests list girls at 6 p.m. and boys at 7 p.m.

The full schedule includes more than 30 combined games and tournament dates, setting up a competitive season for both the Bears and Lady Bears.
