Saints Alive, a ministry of First Baptist Church, kicked off the first meeting of the new season on Oct. 13.
Saints Alive meets during the months of October through May. Anyone 55 and older is invited to join. There are no dues for this calendar year. The meetings feature delicious meals, wonderful Christian entertainment/ ministry and the best fellowship ever. Come for a visit.
This month’s gathering was opened by Liz Allen.
Prayer requests were received, and prayer was then offered by Fred Lambert. The birthday honorees for June, July, August, September and October were also congratulated and first-time visitors acknowledged.
As expected the theme was Autumn, and the decor reflected that. The catered dinner included pork loin, twice baked potato casserole, baked beans and cole slaw with many wonderful desserts to tempt the attendees.
The special event of the evening was a concert by Grant Blakeney and his daughter, Lily Claire. Lily Claire is just 13 years of age and is blessed with an amazing voice. She is involved in community theater and leads youth worship at her church. Grant is also a very talented singer and very funny as well. There was a lot of laughter.
Next month’s meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Nov. 3, and will be a traditional Thanksgiving meal.
