Rayville Assistant Police Chief Czyz Williams has been arrested by the Louisiana State Police.
Detectives assigned to the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations Monroe Field Office initiated an investigation following a complaint alleging malfeasance by the Assistant Chief of the Rayville Police Department in September.
As the case progressed, LSP detectives determined 43-year-old Williams allegedly unlawfully removed several firearms from the Rayville Police Department and subsequently sold them. Investigators also allege Williams fraudulently solicited monetary donations from community members for fictitious crime prevention programs.
Based on the findings of the investigation, LSP MFO obtained an arrest warrant for Williams on three counts of theft of a firearm, one count of theft, and four counts of malfeasance in office. On Oct. 16, Williams was arrested and processed into the Richland Parish Detention Center without incident.
Louisiana State Police will serve as the lead investigative agency. The investigation remains active and ongoing. No further information is available at this time.
The Louisiana State Police online reporting system is also available to the public through a convenient, anonymous, and secure reporting form that is submitted to the appropriate investigators.
The form can be accessed by visiting www. lsp.org and clicking on the “Report Suspicious or Criminal Activity” link.
