Rayville Mayor Harry Lewis met with Leontrae Jones of Bastrop this week to discuss the growth of the Richland Sports & Arts Academy, a youth-driven program empowering local children through sports, arts and leadership.
During their meeting, Mayor Lewis expressed his full support for the RSAA program, praising Jones for his vision and dedication to uplifting the next generation.
“I’m proud of what Leontrae is doing for our youth,” Mayor Lewis said. “This program gives young people positive direction and purpose, and I stand behind it one hundred percent.”
Jones, the founder and director of RSAA, presented the mayor with an official RSAA Hornets T-shirt as a token of appreciation and partnership.
The two discussed future collaborations between the academy and the City of Rayville to expand youth engagement, community activities, and afterschool programs across the region.
“This is bigger than sports – it’s about building confidence, structure, and opportunity,” Jones said. “We’re planting seeds today that will grow into a stronger community for tomorrow.”
In addition to the sports team, the RSAA features a cheerleading squad coached by Franny Hatton.
