Emmory Ahmad Minnieweather and Ma’Kiya Byrd are the latest recipients of the William and Hannah McClain Foundation scholarship.
Minnieweather is beginning his sophomore year at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. He is enrolled in the College of Health Sciences majoring in pre dental hygiene.
The fall semester of 2024, Minnieweather finished the semester off with a 3.53 grade point average and made the president’s list.
He is the son of Maurice Smith and Sanika Minnieweather and a former Rayville High School graduate and recipient of the 2025 – 2026 William and Hannah McClain Foundation Scholarship.
Byrd, a recent graduate of Rayville High School, is the recipient of the 20252026 academic scholarship of the William and Hannah McClain Foundation.
She is the daughter of Nikki Byrd.
The William and Hannah McClain Foundation was established June 28, 2006, by President and CEO Katie McClain Weber to provide financial assistance to college students or high school bound for a four year college/university.
Since 2008, the William and Hannah McClain Foundation has awarded more than 50 academic scholarships to students graduating from Rayville High School.
