Richland teams ready for Friday’s games

The Delhi Bears football team lost to hosting Delhi Charter Gators, by a tally of 21-12 lasat Friday night.

In their next game, the Bears battle the Ouachita Christian Eagles in a nondistrict game on Sept. 19.

Top players for the Bears included quarterback Devin Miles who connected on 9 of 19 pass attempts for 109 yards and Zion Hogan who racked up nine tackles and one sack during the game.

Delhi will attempt to better on its 0-2 season record. The Eagles enter the game with a 2-0 record after their 49-0 non-district win over General Trass.

The Gators (1-1) will now prepare for their outing against Jonesboro-Hodge. The Tigers come into the non-district outing with a 1-1 record. In their last outing, Jonesboro-Hodge achieved victory over West Ouachita, 62-13.

Meanwhile, the Rayville Hornets fell 48-14 in last Friday’s away match with the host Sterlington Panthers.

Sterlington came out strong in the first quarter, putting up 28 points while holding Rayville to eight points.

The second quarter followed a similar script, with the Panthers adding 13 more before halftime as Rayville struggled to find any offense.

By the third quarter, Sterlington’s momentum continued with another touchdown to stretch the lead, while the Hornets were still shut out. Rayville finally broke through in the fourth, scoring 14 points, but the early deficit was too steep. Sterlington closed out the night with a 48-14 victory.

Coming up next, the Hornets confront the Bastrop Rams in a non-district match on Sept. 19. Rayville will attempt to upgrade on its 1-1 season record. The Rams enter the match with a 0-2 record after their 28-12 non-league loss to Booker T. Washington-Shreveport.

The Mangham varsity football team won Friday’s home game against Richwood by a score of 34-28.

The win brings the Dragons to 2-1 as they travel to Columbia this week to take on the 1-1 Caldwell Parish Spartans.

Meanwhile, the Riverfi eld Raiders won their home game against Greenville Christian with 54-40 shut out.

This brings the Raiders to 1-1 on the season as they prepare to take on the 3-0 Washington Generals in an away game Sept. 19.
