The Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office has announced the addition of a drone to its department, expanding its capabilities in emergency response and public safety.
Deputy Jacob Smith recently completed the Part 107 Small Unmanned Aircraft System course, a specialized training program for first responders and emergency services professionals. Following the course, Smith passed the FAA exam and is now a Certified Remote Pilot.
“This new capability will allow RPSO to better respond to emergencies, enhance search and rescue operations, improve situational awareness, and continue our mission of keeping Richland Parish safe,” said Sheriff Neal Harwell.
The department expressed enthusiasm about the new technology, noting its potential to support lifesaving missions and serve the community in meaningful ways.
