Rayville conducts smoke tests

During the month of August, field crews will be conducting a sanitary sewer smoke test in the Town of Rayville.

During this testing, you may see non-toxic smoke coming from vent stacks on buildings or from holes in the ground.

The smoke from smoke testing should not enter homes or buildings.

However, if it does, do not be alarmed. This can be caused by a leak in your plumbing, a faulty seal like in your toilet’s wax ring, or a missing sink or drain trap.

This simulated “smoke” is safe and non-toxic, has no odor, is non-staining, and does not create a fire hazard.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your cooperation,” Rayville Mayor Harry Lewis said.
