The annual Back-to-School Giveaway will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 9 at the Richland Parish Learning Center, 730 Louisiana St., beside the Delhi Civic Center. This year’s event will expand its offerings to include a communityfocused Back to School Mental Health Day, providing resources and conversations around mental and physical wellness.
The highlight of the event includes a Fireside Chat featuring board-certified physicians who will share practical tips with parents and caregivers to help start the school year strong. Barry Gipson Jr. will serve as host.
Families in attendance can expect 200 backpacks filled with school supplies, free haircuts and braids, and giveaways including laptops, college/apartment baskets, and gently used clothes and shoes.
Additional attractions include games, music, door prizes, community resources, and free food and drinks, including snow cones and popcorn.
Sponsors include Knowledge is Golden, Mentoring Program, and St. Peter A.M.E. Church.
“We are truly blessed to have the support of various organizations and individuals coming together to make this year’s annual back-toschool giveaway extra special,” Elessia Clark of Healing Life Health Center said.
