The rhythm of excellence echoed loud and clear as students from A Time to Dance studio returned home with national accolades from the prestigious NYLA Dance Competition.
Their standout honor was the Technical Achievement Award, an elite recognition reserved for the studio with the highest level of technique across the board.
With 17 routines entered, an astounding 13 advanced to day two, placing in the top five of their divisions. The studio’s dancers proved unstoppable, blending artistry with athleticism on a national stage.
Group routines
“Blood Upon the Snow” took first place national winner and a Superstar Platinum ranking.
“Vagabonds” earned fourth place, Superstar Platinum and a choreography award for Olivia Malmay.
“Girls” claimed fourth place national winner, a Storytelling Award and Superstar High Triple Gold.
“So Fly So Cool” soared to third place national winner and Superstar High Triple Gold.
“Not My Responsibility” earned third place national winner and Superstar Platinum.
“Viva La Vida” took fifth place national winner and Superstar High Triple Gold.
“Maneater” and “Canaan” both earned platinum awards.
Solo Routines
Marlee stole the spotlight with “Inversion,” sweeping first place national winner, Miss Nyla, and Nyla Dancer of the Year.
Kloey’s “Muddy Waters” also snagged first place national winner and the Nyla Dancer of the Year title.
JoEllen’s “Over and Over” and JuliAnne’s “You Don’t Own Me” secured top three national placements and Miss Nyla runner-up honors. Performers like Brookelyne, Stella, Kayleigh, Olivia, and Caroline rounded out the solo division with strong Platinum and High Triple Gold finishes.
In addition to individual and group victories, Kayleigh Wisenor and Olivia Malmay earned exclusive honors in the audition segment.
Both will serve as NYLA staff assistants next season and received scholarships to future competitions.
