A diverse group of community leaders gathered on May 27 for the first-ever “It’s Time to Stamp Out Crime” meeting, an initiative aimed at tackling crime throughout Richland Parish.
The event, hosted by Pastor Harold McCoy, drew an impressive turnout, including law enforcement officials, educators, clergy members, and civic leaders.
Among the attendees were Richland Parish Sheriff Neal Harwell, District Attorney Penny Douciere, Richland Parish school Superintendent Sheldon Jones, principals, pastors, police officers, deacons and members of the Richland Parish Chamber of Commerce.
The meeting was designed to foster collaboration and ensure crime prevention efforts extend beyond a single event. Future gatherings are planned at various locations across the parish.
State Representative Francis Thompson expressed his support for the initiative, praising Pastor McCoy’s leadership and commitment.
“Thank you to my old friend Pastor Harold Mc-Coy for hosting this meeting and inviting my office to be a part of this important gathering of community leaders,” Thompson stated.
The ongoing series of meetings will focus on strengthening community ties, addressing concerns, and implementing strategies to reduce crime.
Residents are encouraged to participate in upcoming discussions and contribute ideas for making Richland Parish a safer place for all.
